A NARROW ESCAPE. A narrow escape from a chocking calamity was narrowly averted recently in a large township not far from Wellington. A young couple were dossing tlie road for the purpose of catching a tram when they narrowly missed being knocked down by a motor-car driven at a furious pace. By great presence of mind they managed to avoid a calamity and ultimately arrived at their destination, which was Shortfs Furniture Warehouse, in Willis street, Wellington, were they had been recommended to purchase the furniture for their now home.
