EXCISE TAN AND CANADIAN RECIPROCITY.
WASHINGTON, July 2S. _ The Democrats and United Progressives in the House of Representatives are passing the'Democratic Excise Tax Bill, to which is attached an amendment for the repeal of the Canadian reciprocity provision. The printing paper tax, abolished when reciprocity was adopted, is re-established. An amendment providing for a non-parti-san Tariff Commission to replace the Taft Tariff Board has also been adopted.
. The Senate passed the Canadian Reciprocity measure and adopted the Sugar Bill, cutting down the duty by 30 cents and abolishing the duty on sugar known as “refined differential.”
