AN ERRANT SHELL
LONDON, July 28. During a night attack by torpedoboat destroyers off Spithead, in connection with the mobilisation pt the Portsmouth garrison, a shell whizzed past the Haslar Hospital, instead of being aimed at the moving targets accompanying the warships, and was embedded in the lawn of the hospital, but did not explode. An inquiry is being opened.
