COURSING

, SPECIAL TO THE ‘'TIMES.'' AUCKLAND. July 25. The Great Northern Uuursing Chub's D.g Waterloo Cup carnival was enterea upon at Stamford Dark yesterday morn.ug, when there was a large attendance oi enthusiasts. The weatner was dui) and chiLy, but for coursing, and tue greyhounds and hares accordingly ran strongly, .forty-six dogs were caraou for the cap, two rounds of which were decided, and the trials proved very fine indeed. Amongst the longtails competing were outsiders from Christchurch, Lilham, Waiuou and Hamilton. Mr C. J. Laney managed the gathering without a hitch, while Air J. Tapper (judge) and Mr M. Freney (slipper) gave complete satislaction.

The meeting was continued to-day under the most unfavorable of conditions, file heavy overnight rains flooded the creek behind the baulk, and brought about a reduction in the number of hares, while to-day the waters brought about the oud of some more. On the enclosure sheets of water were numeroue. and this was altogether against good trials.
