H. Oalrymple, and it was resolved to approve. Mr d. Itoddell applied to transfer sections 4, 34 and 35, block 16, C)hincwairua, 472 acres, to Mr D. N. Collins, anil it was to approve. Air 0. Parker made application to transfer sections 17 and j'. block 13, Ohinewairua, 100 acres, to Mr G. 1 arker. It was resolved to approve. Air P. E. Body, a report was received from the Crown Land Hanger, and it was resolved to approve. Air L. G. Walker applied to transfer section 4, Ohakune A .S., 6 acres, to Airs C. Bentley—lt was resolved to recommend for the favourable consideration of the Alinister. Air L. B. Gilfillan, trustee in trie estate of tho late Gilbert Eorison, applied to transfer section 1, block 10, Kaitieke, 170 acres, to Air C. N. Waldegravo, but the application was declined. Mr J. J. Halliday's application to transfer section 17, blocks 6 and 10, kuri, 200 acres, to Aliss V. E. Alitohell was postponed for further inquiry. Messrs Ellis and Darville, Ltd,, applied to transfer section 4, block 8, Alataroa township, 1 rood, to Mr S. Bakarat. — It was resolved to approve. A report was received from the Crown Lands Hanger on the application by Messrs K. B. and C. Sayer and Iv. N. Saywell for a license to float timber dwn tho Waiohine river from Totara Elat to the Alain North road bridge.—lt was resolver! to approve of the granting of the license and to recommend that a particular portion of tho river affected be proclaimed and gazetted for the purpose of the Timber Bloating Act, subject to the applicants' application for the timber being completed, and also subject to all the conditions ot the Timber Floating Act being fully complied with. SUBLEASES SOUGHT. With reference to the proposed sublease with purchasing clause of part of the Nikau Grange Land Settlement Association block from Mrs I. E. Fraser to Messrs A. E. and L. N. A. Burling, the Commissioner reported that he had now received all the required information, and that there was no objection to the transfer, provided that the £SO to be paid only by the transferees is handed to the Public Trustee in reduction of the capital value and particulars and prices given are forwarded with, recommendations. — It was resolved to grant approval. Air J. D. Johnson forwarded particulars of the proposed sublease ot section 89, Taihape V.S. extension, to Mr Thomas Thompson, 21a 2r 7p, and it was resolved to approve, provided the sublease is amended as required by the Commissioner. Mr G. Goodwin applied to sublet section 7, Block 2, Maugahao, 200 a 2r, to Mrs E. N. Field for seven years at a rental of £BO 4s per annum with the right of purchase.—lt was resolved to approve. Mr A. E. K. Howse forwarded particulars of the proposed sublease of section 4, block 15, Mangahao, 159 a Ir, to> Mr R. Keay; also sections 4 and 33, block 3, Mangnone, 457 a 2r, to the same person, and it was resolved to approve. Mrs E. Bedford’s, application to sublet section 6, block 2, Hnnua, 140 a 3r 32p, to Mr W. Miles for four years.at a rental of .£92 per annum was approved. Mr A. E. Stokes forwarded particulars of tho proposed sublease of section 32, block 8, Belmont, Maungaraki Settlement, 24a Ir 9p, to Mr T. S. W. Johnson, aud it was resolved to approve. Mr J. W. McCrae was present in reference to the sublease of section <O. block 1, Hawtrey Settlement, from Mr Westerby to himself, and explained he could not get Mr Westerby to complete the transaction. —The board found that it had no power to interfere in the matter. Mr E. Leahy attended to ask for remission of rental for four years on section 14, block 1, Nnkumaru. The request was postponed for further inquiry. An objection was received to the rental it was proposed to charge for section 11. block 4, Hautapu. It was held over till next meeting. LICENSES AND HERMITS. Messrs Olsen Bros., lessees of sections 19 and 20, block 3, Puketoi S.D., 430 acres, renewed their application to have portion of sections 4 or 5, block 3, Pukotoi, allotted to them without competi-

Mr J. Sowersby having decided that he could not take up licence to mill timber on sections 26 and 27, block 5, Kariro, it was resolved to rescind the resolution odering the timber to him.

Kummoll being granted a permit to occupy section 12. block 6, Mangawcka North township, at a rental of £1 per annum, subject to the usual conditions, determinable at any time. With regard to an application from the Alanawatu County Council to taka about three-quartcr.s of an acre of Air C. E. Vile's leasehold section 59 in the Ohakca battlement, <t was resolved that the board had no objection to the council's taking the necessary stops in this direction, provided tho Crown receives payment of tho land taken at the value at which the land was allotted so that, the land for settlement accounts can be reimbursed.

The I'atoa. County Council submitted proposals for tho expenditure of thirds amounting to £l2 3s. —Approved subject to investigation by the ranger. The Kiwitca County Council forwarded proposals for tho expenditure of thirds accrued to April 27th, 1912, amounting to ,£lO6 11b 8d, —Approved subject to investigation. The Alnngaweka Town Board forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting to £S 4s Bd.—Approved subject to investigation. It was resolved to approve of Mr W. O'ilanloa being granted a permit to split about fifty dead matai trees on Crown land south of Owhango township (to bo pointed out to him by the ranger) at usual royalties. Air G. C. I’. Harper, lessee, of section 7, block 1, Alangawh,ero, asked for the board’s permission as required by Ms lease to effect ceitain improvements on this reserve, and it was resolved to approve subject to the ranger’s report being satisfactory. The Afasterton County Council forwarded proposals for the expenditure of thirds amounting to ,£236 15s 9d for hypothecation of thirds amounting to -till Is, and for permission to use third/; amounting to .£52 las 8d as ordinary' revenue.—Approved, subject to investigation by the ranger and to the usual certificates being supplied by the countycouncil.

The Alauriceville County Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds accrued to April 37th. 1912. —Approved, subject- to investigation. Tho Eketahuna County Council forwarded proposals for the expenditure of accrued thirds amounting to £l, also for hypothecation of thirds amounting to .£29 Its od, and for permission to use as ordinary- revenue thirds amounting to ,£l9 12s 3d. —Approved subject to investigation. It was resolved to agist Air S. R. Harris’s stock on education reserve, lot 7, section 101, block 1, Otahoua, for a time, on payment of 7s per week, tho arrangement to bo terminable on a week’s notice.

A report was received from the Crown Lands Ranger with reference to Air Bicknell’s request that an old drain on the Taw a ha. Settlement be opened up, Au objection was received from several or the other settlers, aud it was resolved that the board had no power to interfere. The Waitotara-Alomohaki Hoad Board forwarded proposals for the expenditure of accrued thirds amounting to £195 13s. —Approved, subject to investigation. The Taihape Borough Council wrote asking the board to consent, to the closing of a strip of road 50 links wide in front of education reserve section 9, block 7. Taihape township, and to purchase the piece so closed. Tho ranger recommended the proposal and estimated tho value of the strip to be purchased and added to tho education reserve at £4o.—The board resolved to recommend fhe Alinister io approve. It was resolved in terms of section 2 (5) of the Education Reserves Amendment Act. 1910, to renew Air J. G. Brechin’s lease of education reserve, section g, block 7, Mangahao, the rent under the new lease to be £ll2 17s per annum, in terms of tho ranger’s valuation. It was resolved to apjirove of M.r A. Banning fencing the boundary between his sections 12 and 13, blcct 1, Hautapu and education reserve section 15, the work to be done under tho supervision and to the satisfaction of the Crown Lands ranger, and upon its completion a voucher for half the cost as assessed by- the raugci to bo passed in favour of Air Banning; tho reserve to bo weighted when offered for leasing with the amount so paid. With reference to tho application to take a road through tho education reserve section 310, Palmerston North, postponed from last meeting, tho Commissicner advised the board of further information ho had received on the matter.—After considerable discussion the application was rejected. The licensee of section 1, block 3, Alanganui, applied for exemption from rent under the bush and swamp conditions of the Act for four years.—Consideration was postponed. The lessee of section 16, block 15, Momahaki wrote with reference to the payments in arrear, and it was resolved to advise him that he should make arrangement to pay up at least a reasonable portion of tho arrears at an early date or else transfer the land to some eligible person.
