The Hon. W. Fraser (Minister for Public Works) is duo from Kuiti by this afternoon’s mail train. Mr J. T. Members of the chorus and orchestra of the Musical Union, also subscribers, are invited by the committee to a musical evening in St. Andrew’s schoolroom. The Terrace, to-morrow evening, when a presentation will bo made to the retiring conductor, Mr Robert Parker. The Rev. F. L. Paton, M.A., 8.D., arrived at Auckland by the Wimmera from Sydney on Monday. Mr Paton is a son of the pioneer missionary of the South Sea Islands, and is visiting "New Zealand for the purpose of impressing upon the divinity students at the universities the need for more missionaries for evangelising the heathen races, ife leaves Auckland for Wellington this evening. The Prime Minister (Hon. F. Massey) sent a telegram to Admiral Sir George King-Hall, of the flagship Drake, which arrived at Auckland yesterday, extending a welcome on behalf of himself and his colleagues. He trusted the Admiral’s stay would be enjoyable. Mr Massey expressed regret that ho was not able to bo in Auckland to extend a personal welcome, but ho hoped to have the pleasure of meeting the Admiral later on. In reply Admiral King-Hall sent the .following message:—“Many thanks for your kind telegram of welcome to New Zealand. I much regret I am only remaining until Monday. I expect to pay New Zealand a long visit at the end of the year, when I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you." PBLORUS JACK. —The pilot fish of the French Pass has been successfully photographed at last. Postcards with a short description of the fish and giving an excellent picture of Jack’s dive are on sale at Sharland and Co.’s Photo Store, Lambton quay. Those make excellent greeting cards for oversea friends.
