AMAZON SCANDALS
QUESTION IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS. (Received July 21, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 20. General indignation over atrocities in tho Putumayo rubber area is voiced in the Commons.
Many questions have been asked, and Mr F. D. Ackland, Under-Secretary /or Foreign Affairs, m his replies has confirmed the statement that there are no English perpetrators. The Peru-vian-Amazon Rubber Company is in liquidation; therefore it is difficult to make it answerable to the law. Tho Government is prepared to co-operate with tho United States to exert pressure on the Government of Peru to bring tho criminals to justice.
