The newspapers, commenting on Sir Roger Casement's report on tho cruelties practised on Indians in the Peruvian rubber districts, assume that though none of the Putumayo murderers wore British subjects they were whites, and mostly Englishmen- Tho papers accuse the latter of murdering 30,(KW natives in six years. The JNeuste Nachnchten and Reichsbote" declare that tho butcheries make an indelible blot on tho British name, putting the Congo atrocities in tho shade, while "Germania” attacks the British Protestant Bible lovers for sal nmu luring Catholic Belgium over the Congo.
