BUSINESS DULL ON AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. , SPECIAL TO THE "TIMES.” AUCKLAND, May 22. Business has been very dull on the Exchange for the last few days, which may be attributed to the effect of the strike at Waihi and fears that it may extend to other branches of the industry. Waihi shares sold down to 36s £d to-day. as there is a growing fear that a settlement of the trouble at -Waihi is not near at hand. Waihi Beefs Consolidated, which a week ago sold at Is 3d, are now offered at Is. with no buyers above 6d. Waihi Extended shares are offered at 7d, and the buying quotation is only 4d.: Waihi Grand Junctions keep steady at 22s 6d. and to-day 35s was offered for Waihi-Paproa Gold Extraction shares. Buyers have dropped out for Northern Coal shares, but Taupiris are still wanting at 21s 6d and Hikurangis at 18s. AUCKLAND MINING, NOTES. SPECIAL TO TUB “TIMES.” AUCKLAND, May 21., The following cable was sent to the London office of the Talisman Company yesterday: No. 13 level south, crosscutting west from the face of the drive—at 15 feet intersected a reef 3 feet wide, assay value £7 6e 3d. This is probably- a split from the main reef. Sinking No. 16 winze—progress ,18 feet, assays low. Driving north from No. 12 winze—progress 20 feet, reef 18 inches wide, assay value £4 2s 6d. Driving south from No. 12 winze—progress 14 feet, reef 48 inches wide, assay value £1 6s; Sunk Woodstock shaft 6 feet."' , WAITANGI. , The main drive on the reef in the Waitangi Mine, Thames, has now been extended 3387 feet. There' is about 5 feet of quartz showing in the face, which carries some nice minerals. The rise has been put up a further 15 feet, making the total height 70 feet. A. body of ore was cut at a height of 67 foet. There is about 5 feet ol quartz showing in the rise, and no sign of the hanging wall. The ore looks .well and carries nice mineral, but .is of low grade at present: As soon as the hanging wall of the reef is reached a survey will be made to determine whether this is the footwall branch or tho main reef. ,
