The award follows the principle of a fair day’s work at a fair day’s wage. Men failing to work 80 per cent, of shifts during a week or to work to the best advantage, or to execute reasonable orders, shall forfeit the right to the minimum. FEDERATION AND THE MINIMA. The Miners’ Federation Conference strenuously protested against several of the awards fixing the minimum below a reasonable living wage, and instructed the executive to seek an interview with the Government.
