AUCKLAND, May 9 Just on. two years ago, when Matmgawai was known as containing a pretty tough element, a little disturbance at a hotel there resulted in a Scandinavian named Aaron Hendrickson being ordered out of the bar. The man turned round and abused the hotelkeeper in vile language, and the matter came to the ears of Constable Moss, who was stationed at the township. Hendrickson was summoned to appear at court, but when the hearing day came round he had disappeared. The changing months brought Constable Moss to Auckland, and yesterday he dropped across Hendrickson labouring in the city streets, so the summons was ratified after a lapse of two years, and Hendrickson had no option but to answer the call of the court this time. He admitted the use of obscenity. It was stated that the man s offence was tho result of a lapse into drinking after Hendrickson had led a respectable, sober existence, and that the shock ot tho summons had brought him back to the mark of respectability. It was the turning of a new leaf that had kept him hidden for so long, for he had done nothing to bring him within the police He was convicted and fined A‘s and 25s COrtS.
