HUTT PIPE BRIDGES

APPORTIONMENT OF COST. A warrant, authorising the ■Wellington City Council to construct two pipe and traffic bridges over the Waiwetn and Hutt rivers, together with the approaches and apportionment of cost, is contained in last night’s “Gazette." It is set out that the cost of the western approach to the new bridge over the Hutt river shall he borne by the Petoue Borough Council, and, that the balance of the works authorised (less such contributions as may be made, if any. by the Government and by Mr P. J. Nathan; and less the cost of any part of the works which Mr Nathan has covenanted shall be executed) shall be borne by the ton City Council, the Lower Hutt Borough Council, tho Petono Borough Council, the Eastbourne Borough Council, and the Hutt County Council, being the respective contributing parties to the said works, as follows:—Lower Hutt Borough Council. £375; Eastbourne Borough Council. £ll2 10s; Hutt County Council, £162 10s; Petono Borough Council, £2588; Wellington City Council. £7662. And such further moneys required for the carrying-ont of the works shall be paid by the Wellington City Council and tho Petone Borough Council in equal shares; provided that the excess cost of the Waiwetn bridge and approaches over and above the sum of £750 shall not be contributed to by the Petone borough, and shall be excluded in computing the halfshare of such further moneys to be paid by Petone borough. Any contribution required to be mode by the Eastbourne Borough Council not already paid shall be paid out of the ordinary funds of tlie borough, and shall be payable in manner provided by the Public Works Act and its amendments, and the sum of £2588 and other sums payable by the Petoue borough shall be recoverable and payable in manner provided by the Act and its amendments. All such payments shall be made from time to time to the city treasurer, Wellington, for and on account of such boroughs.
