LECKIE AND MURPHY TO MEET AT MASTERTON. j TEAM FOR HAWKE'S BAY. SPECIAL TO THE “TIMES.” MASTERTON, December 10. Arrangements havo been completed i for A. Leclua and D. Murphy, of Wellington, to moot in a professional boxing match at Mastcrton on December 20th. This will be the first, professional contest in Masterton for twenty years, the last ono being between Bob Matthews and Francis, which was stopped by tire police at about the twenty-third round. On the samo night Olsen, runner-up in the Wairarapa feather-weight championship, will meet Joplin, bantam champion of Wellington; and O. Cadwalladpr, of Captorton, will box J. Smith, of Petonp. An effort was niado to bring George I Barr, tho undefeated bautam charapiou of Wairarapa, and Leckie, of Dunedin (Now Zealand champion)," together at Masterton bn December 20th, but the secretary of the Wairarapa Boxing Association received a telegram on Saturday night that Leckie could' not mate tho trip to Mastorton. Barr will probably be matched against a Wanganui or Palmerston bantam. A team of three boxers from Wairarapa—Barr, Olsen, and Cadwallador—will compete at the Hawke’s Bay tournament on December 26th.
