MARANUI SURF CLUB
The Maranui Surf Club opened its scV son on Saturday afternoon, when a nun> ber of reel, exhibitions and gymnastic displays wore given. The weather was all that could be desired, and a good surf was running. Councillor Smith unfurled the club flag and declared the season open. Land drill by ladies’ and gentlemen’s squads, under Miss O. Arthur and Mr 0. H. Neal respectively, was gone through, the squads afterwards going through rescue w<>rk in tile water. Mr G.. Sim# and a number of pupils gave an interesting exhibition of physical culture exercises, and Mr E. Parker introduced a novelty br swinging a couple of axes. A wrestling bout between S. Chapman and M. Morgan ended in favour of the latter.
