SPORTS CARNIVAL.
An attraction for New Year's Day is* the cycling and athletic sports carnival in Athletic Park, promoted by the Wheeler? Club. The prize-money amounts to £103,' and a fine programme of events has beer drawn up. These include amateur and professional cycling and running, amateur walking, ‘ cycling events. Highland dancing and music, etc. Entries close on December 20th.- • A sports carnival will he held by the Amateur Athletic Club on the Baaiu Reserve next Saturday. . 11. N. Hill, the wellknown distance runner of Auckland, will attempt to lower - the Australasian threemtlo record of 14min 49sec. A band will be in attendance.
