MR MACK’S ADVICE. WORKERS URGED TO SUPPORT SIB JOHN FINDLAY. OPEN LETTER TO ELECTORS. SPECIAL TO THU “ T111U3,” AUCKLAND, December 9, Mr M. J. Slack, the defeated candidate in the Parnell election, in an open letter to the electors concerning the second ballot, says:— . “lour chance of a representative now lies between a Minister of tho Crown, who, although supporting the present Government, is prepared to push forward a progressive-policy, and a gentleman who supports and is-advocated by the Opposition. Now I, as a working man with a large family, ask you (seeing that there- is no alternative) to put aside all sentiment in this matter and esk yourselves in a oommon-sonse, practical way, in which of the two parties dees the interest of yourself, your wife and family lieP Do you think 1 for one moment that the Opposition party, if returned to power, -will assist the working class? Do you think their interests are identical with’your own? Are you prepared to put the welfare of youfhomo and family in the hands of a party whoso interest is, ■ and always has been, opposed to tbo workers ? I cannot Afford to do so, and X respectfully submit that you, as a worker, cannot afford to do so. In conclusion, I take this opportunity of thanking you for the support accorded to mo, and respectfully ask that, in your own interest, you will now transfer that vote to the Government candidate. Sir John Findlay. Note, my action in. this matter is actuated solely hy a desire to assist roy fellows to do the best they can under (he altered circumstances.” Tho foregoing letter is heartily endorsed by tho leading trade union officials, whose signatures are—Thos.
