Mr Complin, secretary of the New South Wales Alliance, is jubilant over the New Zealand liquor vote. Nobody, ho says, can deny that it is a great victory. With the assistance of the Catholic vote they probably could have carried prohibition with a good deal to spare. Mr Tennyson Smith, temperance advocate, predicts that the liquor trade will be badly beaten at thenest elections. ,
The officials of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association declined to discuss the subject on incomplete figures.
