PICTURE SALE

w. H. TURNBULL AND CO. A rather notable pale of water-colour drawings and oil paintings by British and Continental artists is to ho held bv Messrs AV. IT. Turnbull and Co., auctioneers, on Triclay next-. The pictures are now on exhibition in the firm s rooms in Panama street. Among them are some very excellent works. Ono in particular is a large, bold impressionist study entitled “Algerian Brigands." from the brush of Dudley Hardy, K.I. and jf.0.1.. a picture that should find a ready sale. An Italian artist. K. Ricciarili, has several sea-scapes on view, typical representations of his country of bright skies and striking colour contrasts. An English artist of repute, Leslie Greaves, is represented with some really delightful rural scenes in England, all of -which vividly pourtray Home country life, A number of works by Fred Elliott are in t-ho collection. This artist has a predilection for striking colours, mostly lurid sunset scenes with shipping in tho foreground, but others of his works depict a more reposeful, gentler beauty. A popular British artist, H. J. Kinuaird, has some typical English scenes in water colour that should lind ready buyers. Few finer studies aro in tha collection. An Italian artist, Pietro Barucci’s. very i'mo water colour, “AVino Drinkers,” should command a good price. Many other artists aro represented.
