CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY
X meeting; of tho council of the Clydesdale llorso Society of Kew Zealand was
held on the 29th lilt., in the Otago A. and P. Society’s committee room. There were present—Messrs J. A. Johnstons (in tho chair), C. J. Beakes (Wellington), Ernest Short (Feilding), James King (Waiau), H. Saunders (Waimate), Alexander Huster (Hawera), I#. It. Hamilton (llnnutahi), James Shearer (Ashburton), John Kwan (Drummond), W. J. Charters (Taieri), James Goiv (Taieri), J. W. Harding (Waipukurau), Hugh Campbell (Havelock Korth), and E-, J. Dagg (Masterton). Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs It. I). H. -McLean, James I). Wyllie, Thomas Logan, and A. L'. Harding. Four gentlemen resident in the Xorth Island ami one in the south were elected to lili existing vacancies on tho council, and fourteen now members of the society were admitted.
The report of the sub-committee appointed to consider the rules for entry in tho first volume of the Stud Book was received, and, subject to certain amendments, was adopted. Tho fees for entry were fixed as follow’s -Members : Stallions, 10s; mares, ss; foals entered as produce, :1s «6d, which amount will bo rehated in the caso of animals given a number in future volumes. The fee for into entry will bo 50 per cent, extra. Non-members will bo charged double rates.
The appointment of an editing commit, too was held over for next meeting, and the engagement of a secretary was left in the hands of a sub-committee, with power to act.
