Rickard’s Vaudeville Company received a liberal measure ot patronage at the Ooera House last evening;. Every item ST"wa attractive entertainment was vociferously applauded. The programme will be repeated this evening.
Millions of microbes, happily all dead, were exhibited in tiny cases at a recent medical exhibition held in London. According to "Kemp’s Mercantile Gazette” the number of commercial failures published in Great Britain and Ireland during the quarter ending Saturday September 30th, was 2046. The number in the corresponding quarter of last year was 2325, showing a decrease of 279. being a net decrease in 1911, to date, of 643. The artificial leather of Louie Gevaert, a Belgian, who has been awarded a prize of 5000 francs, consists of heavy cotton cloth impregnated with substances containing tannin and albumen. Shoes from this material are claimed to have the elasticity, resistance, and durability of natural leather, and the cost is less than half.
