IZAAR WALTON IN DRAMA

NEW PLAY BY A TITLED LADY. FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. LONDON, October 6. Some interest has been aroused in theatrical circles by the news that Xzoak Walton,.. beloved of anglers the worldover, is to appear as a character on the stage in. a play called '‘The Golden I Mean," from the pen of the Hon. Sybil Tyssen-Aiiihcrat, daughter of tho late Lord Ahmerst, at Norwich, this week. King Charles I. and Lonnie Prince Charlie share honours with Izaak \\ alton, and the scene of the drama, which is founded on actual historical incident, is tho peaceful village home of Nicholas and John Ferrar, who at Little Ceding, in Huntingdonshire, in the year 1625, founded the religious community familiar to readers of "John Inglesant." It was a community of thirty persons who spent their days praying and preaching moderation.

They followed the difficult "middle way" until tho community was- dispersed by the Puritans. The motive of the play is explained in a rhymed prologue, of which the following is the key;— They kept that golden mean—that middle way That works a silent miracle each day.
