A meeting of supporters of the local •restoration movement hold last night was also attended by a large number of Nolicenso advocates, the building being packed. Tho meeting -was addressed by air Moresby, solicitor, organiser of the Restoration League. At the close of tho meeting a resolution in favour of Nolicenso was* moved by a No-lichuse leader but was lost. At this stage tho NoUcenso portion of tho audience retired, and tho following resolution was then carried unanimously:—'‘That this meeting endorses tho Mayor's statement that Waihi has received neither moral nor material benefit under No-liconse; also that it believes tho effect of No-license has been pernicious to tho welfare-of tho district, and tends to loArer tho morals of the district by tho encouragement of .deceit and. lying. .... .•‘Mr Jordan, No-license agent, attempted several times to address street audiences after the meeting had closed. A section of the audience expressed' indignation, and, amid' yelling and hooting, the mover of tho motion was led out of tho hall by a constable, his friends singing “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow" and jeering the chairman. The meeting continued to bo rowdy, and before-the close no less than six- persons were ejected'by the police for causing a disturbance.
