SYDNET, October 12. “Bird Day,” the object of which is the inculcating of the idea of the necessity for protection of native birds, was inaugurated to-day, and is largely being celebrated by the State schools. Mr A. O. jOarmiohael, Minister for Education, in an address dealing with the value of birds to the settlers, referred to the wanton mischief wrought by ladies wearing plumage for the sake of adornment. The remedy, ho said, was to wear artificial plumage, if ladies must have tEs style of adornment.
