WEEK-END TRIPS QUESTION OF DESECRATION DISCUSSED BY PRESBYTERY. - PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, October 10. At (lie meeting of the Christchurch Presbytery to-day a report was submitted Oil Sabbath observance. iu the course of discussion, the Rev. G B Inglis. after quoting a statement made at a meeting of the Dunedin Socioty for the Protection of Women and Children, to the effect that a serious .arm of Sabbath desecration was the practice of young men in going away for week-end trips and taking girls with them, said it was equally wrong, 701 instance-, for a man, to lio on a -sola and smoko and read a paj>er on Sunday, as it was to inako the day a holiday. iho pastors should all bo moro earnest in their Tireaching, and strive to make it moro attractive, and should awaken a higher sense of responsibility as to the sacredness of the Sabbath. It was decided to form a branch of tho Sabbath Alliance and hold a Presbyterian conference on tho subject about February next.
