THE TERRITORIALS
DISTRICT ORDERS. District orders issued by Colonel Chaytor, Officer Commanding the Wellington Military District, contain tho following information: —• Appointment of chaplains: Revs. If. G. Kosher and A. Doull, both fourth class. Passed for promotion: Lieutenant J. C. Davidson, Ninth Regiment (Wellington West Coast Rifles;, for captain; Lieutenant H. H. Dean (Victoria College Officer's Training Corps; for lieutenant, Tho Victoria College Rifle Company will form part of coast defence troops, and will be attached to the Fifth Regiment (Wellington Rifles) for discipline, administration, etc,, but will be at the disposal of the Coast Defence Commander for training. The General Oflicer Commanding directs that, in future, veterans may be accorded military funerals when practicable, provided there is no expense to the department. For this year it will be necessary to attend the prescribed course of instruction prior to examination for promotion.
Officers whoso first appointments were gazetted subequent to May sth, 1911, will bo entitled to tho outfit grant. Owing to the difficulty experienced by the audit inspector in getting in the balance-sheets of tho various companies, and the manner in which the majority of these accounts have been kept, it has been decided to discontinue the audit for the present.
