WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN?
Tho Sanitary Board of Hong-Kong recently discussed the question whether “■there is any legal definition of a Christian." It seems that "some Chinese are. seeking baptism in their last hours in order to bo buried in Happy Valley"—the , place where the racecourse and the cemeteries are,' you can watch the ponies running, and then walk a few yards and look over a bamboo wall at the graves and headstones. Tho “China Mail” doubts if there is room for all and sundry in Happy Valley, and says that the law-makers should “say definitely that, except the offspring of Christian parents, none should be buried in tho cemetery who have not been baptised for more than two years.” Adepts in sanitary service, “would thus be relieved of being compelled to discuss points of Christian theology, and tho Chinese would escape from the insinuation that they accept Christian baptism merely that they may bo buried in . Happy Valley." *
