There were 127 starters, including tho following New Zealanders:—A. Smith (scratch), O’Shea (scratch), Tozer (14min), O’Donoghue (18min). None of the New Zealanders finished in the first twenty. Smith punctureid a tyre five miles from Goulboum. O’Shea’s riding time was 7hrs 21min 6sec; O’Donoghue’s, 7hr 43min 67sec; and Tozer’s, 7hrs 39min 40sec. Kirkham made the fastest time, 6hrs 19min 31seo, a record. Rennie won by four minutes. He has done considerable riding in New Zealand.
