THE LABOUR PARTY
The Wellington branch of tho Labour party will meet at the Trades Hall next Wednesday evening to receive nominations of candidates, from the various unions for the ensuing general elections. The party will in all likelihood run Labour candidates for all Mho city aud suburban seats. The Farriers’ and General Blacksmiths' Union have recommended tho following as-suitable candidates: —Messrs D. McLaren, M.P. (Wellington East), Edward Tregear (North), A. H. Hindmarsh (South), AV. C. Noot (Central), VV. T. Young (Suburbs), and James Ross (Hutt). The proposed candidates will address the members of the combined branches of the party at tho Trades Ball on August 16th. There .will bo a postal ballot, returnable by the 23rd insl., on tho result of which tho final selection will be made.
