TYPHOID AMONG MAORIS
EXCITEMENT IN A KATANGA AT PUNIHO. PRESS ASSOCIATION. NEW PLYMOUTH, August i. An exciting incident which occurred in 'one of the principal staoets to-day arceo of what is said to be the first instance of the polco being called on to carry out an order of tho Health Officer under the Public Health Act to remove to some suitable place persona suffering from infectious disease, and who are not provided with proper lodging or habitation. There have been many cases of typhoid amongst tho Maoris at tho taianga at Punino, and to-day two Maoris from there refused to enter the hospital. The acting-Hoalth Officer called in the police and they were taken to tho public hospital.
