A WHITE DINING ROOM

Superseding mahogany in tho eyes of fashionable women, white furniture for tho dining-room has come into vogue this year. t First introduced in France, together wildv lovely gray enamelled sets, it is now being made in this country, and nothing could ho prettier than, a dainty diningroom papered in delft blue with its gloaming white furniture, the table top protected by a sheet of plate glass, which reflects tho shining silver I and china and the breakfast doilies. The novel chairs to these new seats ato straight-backed and ■ handsome, their ornate beauty being set off by scats of coloured leather with great brass tacks. One of tho most beautiful of pure white dining-room sots includes china closet, server, buffet, round extension table and chairs of the Adam period touched up with fine gold lines. The wood is white mahogany overlaid with white enamel highly polished. The seats of tho chairs aro covered with plain, fine green leather. Equally beautiful is an Adam get of pure white, lacking tho gold linos. The foundation of this, too, is white mahogany, highly enamelled, and the chair seats are covered with plain, dull grbenblue leather. Tho tall china closet and tho wide, low buffet are -extremely graceful. although extremely plain in design. These, however, aro very expensive, evolved by having an old oak dining table and chairs scraped and enamelled and the woodwork in tho room also painted white. 1 The gray sots are also very effective, but are far more expensive, and are more suited for bedroom furniture than for the dining-room.—‘’American ■Journal.”
