Mr Woodcock lias resigned his position as coaching foreman at the Palmerston railway station. If tho match can be arranged, it will take place at the 'end of the present month. . - . At last night’s meeting of ,the Borough Council, a report was received from Hon. A- Pitt, following on his recent inspection of the Opera House. The report recommended the removal of the dress circle. a,nd the construction of a new one on proner lines, and the addition of a new family circle to seat about five hundred people. He said that these alterations would turn the building into a modern theatre suitable for Palmerston for the next twenty years. The estimated cost of the alterations is about £3OOO. The letter, was received by the council, and will be further considered at an early date, when it will be decided whether at is advisable to put a loan proposal before the ratepayers in connection with the matter.
