PECULIAR ACCIDENT.

Yesterday about 3 p.m. Victoria street was the scene of a rather peculiar accident. A lorry belonging to the New Zealand Express, Company was being backed against the kerb outside Hooper and Harrison’s warehouse, preparatory to about a dozen hirgo cases being unloaded. These contained electric light globes. Suddenly the younger of the horses in the shafts swerved, and turned the lorry almost completely over. To add to the confusion, the came toppling down over the animals, pinning them to the earth. The driver managed to jump clear, and escaped with a few bruises. After a quarter of an hour’s hard work the lorry was righted again. This was made much more difficult and somewhat dangerous by the kicking and jdunging of the two horses. The damage, it is estimated, will bo considerable.
