ADDRESS BY DR IZARD
At the mooring of the Women's Social and Political League last night. Dr Izard, in the course-of an address, said that in the past the Opposition had asserted that it was not their practice to outline their policy. They had, however, departed from that custom, and recently in Wellington Mr Massey had promulgated a policy, the planks of which had been cribbed from the , Government. Ab 'to granting of old agd'-pc-nsions 'for women over sixty years of age, the Opposition Und formerly opposed it on the ground of lack of funds. Another of their planks was town-planning, a scheme for which the credit belonged to the Hon. G. Powlds. Dr Izard emphasised ; the" necessity of a central railway station in Wellington, and spoke of the pressing need of a re-survey of the New. Zealand const. Mr William McLean Said he was one of the first to advocate women of sixty years nf age receiving the old age. pension.
