FIRE AT HATAITAI.
EIYE-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. At nine minutes past one o’clock this morning the fire brigade received an alarm, the canse being a fire in a livqroomed house in Hmau road, llataitai, owned by Mr John Houghton, and occupied by Mr Rudolph Taylor. The firemen, under Superintendent. O'Brien, promptly responded to the alarm, hut on arriving at tho house found that the fire had got such a hold that they could do nothing, and the building, with its contents, was destroyed, though Mr Tay-' lor and his family escaped uninjured. There is a policy of insurance on the furniture in the Guardian office for J3OO. The insurance on the building could not be ascertained this morning.
