HARRIERS
Tbo Wellington Harriers held their two miles and a half stoplechaso on Saturday at Trontham racecourse. The officials were:—Judges, Messrs W. H. Bennett and Roilo, sonr.; timekeeper. Mr W. Watt; starter, Mr W. B. Bennett: course _ stewards, Messrs W. Smith and S. Perkins.
Salek aud Roilo were the only ones to clear the water jump the first time round. O’Neill led for three-quarters of a lap, when Farrington took the lead, the back-markers bein'; well up. Wilton took charge early in the second lap, and, running very strongly, won comfortably by 75 yards in the fast timo of 14miu 47sec, W. Press being second end F. Kowberry, ten yards awqy, third. The track was in very good form. year's timo for this race was IGmin 37sec. W- Press lias succeeded in getting second two years iu succession. Nest Saturday a test race takes place from Miramar, not Island Bay, as intended. BROOKLYN. Sixteen members of the, Brooklyn Club journeyed out to Miramar on Saturday afternoon ao take part in a race for a handsome silver cup presented, by Mr Lea. Cooke and a gold medal presented bv Mr E. Marshall, the course being about five miles. Tho two limit men, AV. Wilton and C. Byrne (71min) had tho race practically to themselves, for they were never sighted during the journey. IV. Wilton beat C. Byrne for first .place by 25sec, his time being 2Smin 17acc. H. G. Wilson and W. Mansfield, both with Grain start, tied. for third place, with A. A. Oliver (4min SOscc) and E. Shaw (3miu) close behind. F. Byrne, off tho scratch mark, secured the fastest time, doing the distance jn 23fnin sCsec.
