GARRISON BAND
There was a moderate attendance at' the Town Hall last evening, -when the Wellington Garrison Bane gave a concert in aid of the fund to defray expenses of a proposed ■Crip to compote at the- Gisborne Band Contest. The audience stood while the hand played ‘The Bead March" In “Saul" as a mark of respect for. the late Mr T. E. Taylor. The band, under the conductors hip of Lieutenant T. Herd, was in good, form, and the audience displaced thorough appieciation of the items submitted. The bet comprised; Overture, "Tancredi" (Bosstm), "Hear My Prayer," oornet solo 'Mendelssohn); intermezzo, "Evening Bells" (W. Btmmer); grandselection. "Faust" (Gounod); and "Wem BLelt Wein” . (J. SchrammcU. 'Madam Mueller sang pleasingly, "Birth ot Day" (0. Deacon); and "0, Divine Bodeemer" (Gounod). A capable interprotation of "Stax of Bethlehem" (Adams), earn, ed a recall for Mr B. Blow, who 'added "The Birth of Mom" CLoonl). Mr Blow also gave "There is a Green HUI" f Gounod*. The accompaniments were played.byMessi* B. C. Hollow and C. Stoughton.
