SINGULAR STORM

An extraordinary storm occurred in London to-diay, A sudden squall of wind, with. a velocity of fifty-four miles an hour, sprung up,, and an inch, of rain fell in a quarter of an hour. Hailstones half an inch in diameter fell and cut through umbrellas. Tho underground railway tubes were flooded and traffic was suspended. The . thermometer dropped, ’ 22 degrees from 87 degrees in a quarter of an hour. ~ At the costers’ market, Farringdon road, stalls Were overturned and fruit, books and flowers whirled in the air. Tho wind struck two tents at. Epping Forest, burying in theih folds 600 Sunday school children, who had assembled for their annual treat. A terrible panic ensued, , but holes were cut in the canvas to enable the children to escape.
