Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Prime Minister) announced in the Dominion House of Commons that as soon as a vote had been taken on Reciprocity tho House would proceed to discuss the Estimates. As the. Conservatives have pledged themselves to refuse Supply until eleotions are held on the .Reciprocity issue, the Premier’s statement is taken to mean an immediate dissolution of Parliament. The elections, which are ■to he fought on the Reciprocity issue, will take place on September 21st. FORMATION OF FARMERS’ PARTY ABANDONED. (Received July 30, 5.5 p.m'.) OTTAWA, July, 29. The western grain growers’ projected formation of a , hew . agricultural federal party, independent of both Liberals ' and Conservatives, has ’ been abandoned, to the great relief -of tho Liberal headquarters, as it was feared that the new party would cause a serious loss to the Government forces in the forthcoming elections. THE DISSOLUTION A SURPRISE. DISSATISFACTION AT NO REDISTRIBUTION BILL. (Received July 31, 0.5 a.m.) OTTAWA, July 30. The dissolution of Parliament surprised politicians, as it was generally .believed that this action would not ho token for at least another week. Much dissatisfaction is expressed at tlie Government’s failure to introduce a Redistribution Bill based on the census, as Western Canada and British Columbia are deprived thereby of an increase in tho number of members, probably amounting to twenty. ; . . Manitoba and British Columbia are largely opposed to reciprocity. If returned to power Sir Wilfrid Laurier intends to introduce more stringent rules for the prevention of obstruction.
