EAST COAST RAILWAY.
PEESS ASSOCIATION. GISBORNE, July 28. At tho quarterly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, to-day the following resolution, was passed:—"That this chamber will gladly co-operate with the Napier chamber in urging the commencement of the Gisborue-Napior railway, on the condition that- the Napier chamber will join, ns in. 'our efforts') to got the line commenced simultaneously at both ends." The resolution was passed in response to a request from the Napier chamber for co-operation with the view to getting a substantial sum placed on the Estimates this sesion for tho immediate start of the Napier-Gisbome portion of the East Coast railway from the southern end, and that a deputation from the chambers be arranged to wait on the Premier or Minister of Public Works at a later date.
