THE GRAIN CROP
EETUEN OF YIELDS AT LAST HARVEST. Tabled are now available showing the yields of the principal crops for the season 1910*11. As anticipated, the juoms are iow, this being the result oi the drought experienced in many parts of the Dominion mat summer. CHOP EETUHNS. The ligrures in relation to the potato yield are m teas; . in aJJ >ther cases, bushels in wheat, Southland ha/d tho heaviest >ioid per aero, 33 bushels, while Wellingrlon and Marioorougb fonowod with yieiue of 28 bushels per aore. {Southland aiso lea the way with oats, having an average yieid of 4*j bushels per aero. Marlborough had a 36-buchel yield, ana Woiungcon ton-owed with one of 34 bushels. DOMINION TOTALS A summary of the total yields of wheat mid oats tor the Dominion in each of the past Ci-oven yea is is given in the tabie loii-owing. Wheat. Oats.'
The highest wheat yield was in 19C2-03, v/heu there was an average return of 58.37 bushels per acre. Last year tho yield averaged 25.73 bushels per acre, almost tho lowest for the period. It was only beaten in 19-1-02, when the yield was, 24.76 bosho's. In oats, the highest yield was recorded in 1908-09, when the return averaged 46.46 bushels per acre. • Last year’s yield was 33.42 bushels, again almost tho lowest for tho period.
