CRIPPEN’S DEFENCE
A SOLICITOR SUSPENDED. COMMENTS BY A JUDGE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Oopyrigli* LONDON, July 12. Arthur Newton, solicitor, who was accused of unprofessional conduct in connection with the case of Hawley Crippen, convicted and executed for the murder of his wife, has been suspended for twelve months, and ordered to pay the costs of the inquiry. Mr Justice Darling stated that he was satisfied that Crippen was not defended as he shonld have been. The case was conducted largely for the purpose of making newspaper copy. Others 1 resides Newton, his Honor declared, deserved punishment.
