GORDON BENNETT ELIMINATION CONTEST. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. NEW YORK, July 11. Seven balloons started from Kansas city in an elimination contest. The two winners will bo selected to compote in tho Gordon Bennett Cup race on October 4th. AERONAUTS ,IN THUNDERSTORM. KANSAS CITY, July 11. Clifford Harman and Augustus Post, in the balloon New York, had a thrilling experience in tho Bennett elimination contest. They encountered a terrific thunderstorm. Both landed safely, blit for a time they were lost in the clouds, with lightning playing all about them. At noon five of the contestants were still aloft.
