THE AUCKLAND MINES. SPECIAL TO THE “ TIMES." AUCKLAND. July 12. WAicyrA.ni, Tho manager reports for the week' as follows:—“The shaft has now been completed to the No. 7 or 523 feet level, and to-day a commencement was nuulo to crosscut for the footwall and main reefs from this level, the distances to the drive being approximately 360 feet and SCO feet respectively.’' WATCHMAN. Tho manager reports:—“The City of Dunedin reef shows gold in tho quartz, and in future three shifts will bo working continuously on 'this face. Six feet have been driven into tho hanging wall of the Windfall roof, with no wall in view; minerals of a good class are distributed through tlw stone. The Sunbeam low level is along S 6 foot. Tho face is quartz of a very hard description, with rhodonite and other minerals, also occasionally sulphides showing. NEW ZEALAND GROWN HINES. Tho following Is an extract from the general manager’s monthly report on operations in the New Zealand Crown Mine, Karangahako, dated June sth:—“At No. 2 A level. Welcome reef, in the lowest block, tho reef measures 2 feet in thicknes, and tho value is £3 5s per ton. At No. 3 B level, north, tho Welcome rocf at McCarron's block is 1 foot* wide, and tho value la £1 14s per ton. Rising and sinking on Robinson’s block, above and below tho intermediate level, is in progress on tho Welcome reef, which is 2 feet in width, and tho value is £3 Is per ton. At N 0.4 B level, south, at Edwards' block, tho Welcome reef measures 4 feet in thickness, and tho value is £1 15s per too. At Ratcliifo’s north block in this rise, tho reef measures 22 inches in width, and the value is £2 Is. At No. 5 B level, south, at Walls's block, tho reef averages 4 feet in thickness. and the value is £1 12a. At tho Waitawhota level, rorth. tin Crown reef rising is still being continued over tho back of this level, and the roof averages 6 inches in width, with assays at the rate of £1 ISs. The rise in Macphorson's block is up 31 foot, and the reef, measuring 20 inches in thickness, assays at tho rate of £2 13s per ton. In the stop© south of this rise tho reef is 15 inches in width, and tho value is £1 17s. At tho Waitawheta level South Crown reef, at Hardman’s block, in tho rise above No- 1 level, the roof is 21 inches in width, and tho value is £1 146 per ton. The reef in the etopes north and south of the rise is 2 feet wide, and the , value is £2 7a per ton. At No. 1 level. South Crown roof, at Berry's block, tho reef is 2 feet in thickness, and the value £2 17s. At No. 3 level. South Crown reef, at Cogan's block, in tho stopcs tho roof averages 2.feet 6 inches in thickness, and tho values vary from £1 Hs north of the rise to £3 7s south of tho same starting point." SAXON. At a meeting of directors in tho Saxon Gold Mining Co., held yesterday afternoon, it was decided to instruct tho mine manager to at once start operations with two men on the reef intersected in the crosscut at 1000 feet. WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. Following are the particulars of a cablegram sent to tho head office, London, yesterday:—“Aro crushing 355 tons per day; tho actual extraction is £1 5s sd.
