T, Flyger, carrier, charged on four separate counts, with breaches of the awards, was fined £2- on tho first count, and convictions wore recorded, in - tho others. At'tho meeting of the Pohongina County Council an account was read from a settler - for "one cow poisoned by tho county engineer on June 16th, £10.” Tho engineer explained that tho animal met its death through eating tut-n shrub growing on tho council's properly adjoining tho roadway. The chairman pointed out that tutu was growing on other parts of tho road, and that thereforo the council was not liable. Subsequently tho engineer was instructed to make further inquiries regarding tho claim.
