T, Flyger, carrier, charged on four separate counts, with breaches of the awards, was fined £2- on tho first count, and convictions wore recorded, in - tho others. Through the derailment of a ballast train at the Longburn bridge on Saturday afternoon, the up and down evening trains were each delayed three hours. The slow train to Wellington was stalled at’ Longbum for some hours, and many families who spent the afternoon in Palmerston, did not reach homo till Uxo early hours of Sunday morning. Tho Manawatu Hunt Club has decided to hold runs in tho vicinity of Wellington on August sth and 7th if those dates aro suitable to Wellington members. The following have been, elected members of tho club; —Mr A. L. Scott, llimitangi; ■ Mr W. Quayle, Manakau; Mr M. Kearns, -Kairanga; Mr L. Moyrrihan, Shannon; Dr Lloyd-Clay. Messrs T. Pritchard, M. and J. McGrath, and. J. Wales, Wellington. At'tho meeting of the Pohongina County Council an account was read from a settler - for "one cow poisoned by tho county engineer on June 16th, £10.” Tho engineer explained that tho animal met its death through eating tut-n shrub growing on tho council's properly adjoining tho roadway. The chairman pointed out that tutu was growing on other parts of tho road, and that thereforo the council was not liable. Subsequently tho engineer was instructed to make further inquiries regarding tho claim.
