RUGBY FOOTBALL
MANAWATU AND HOROWHENUA. A meeting of representatives of tho Manawatu Rugby Union and the Horowhenua Rugby Union was held at Levin on Saturday night for the purpose of dtscussing and passing resolutions concerning the amalgamation scheme for playing certain representative matches. Messrs Dawson. McMonaway, McWiiliam and Gibbons were present on behalf of Manawatu, and Messrs Procter, Burgo and Kingi 'iar liiwi represented tho local union. After tho objects had been pnt before tho mooting tho following resolutions were passed: ' Proposed by Mr Pawson and .seconded by Mr Procter: “That this committee of tho two unions approve of amalgamation for <playing Taranaki Union', Auckland Union, and Wellington A team, and other unions as will bo agreed upon.” By- Mr Gibbons, seconded by Mr Pawson : ‘‘That a committee of throe from each union be set up to carry out the business of tho amalgamation scheme tho secretary of the Manawatu Union to bo secretary pro. tern; without remuneration.” By Mr Gibbons, seconded by Mr Procter: “That all moneys accruing froni matches of the combined unions bo paid into a separate fund to bo operated upon by two trustees solely on behalf of the amalgamation. By Mr Pawo-on. seconded by,Mr Burge: "That in the event of a tour each union will, if necdssary. contribute an equal amount to finance such tourA By Mr Burge, seconded by'Mr Gibbons: "That one year’s notice be given by cither union of tho termination of tho amalgamation.” By Mr Burge, seconded by Mr Gibbons: "That a three-fifths majority of tho committee must vote in favour of sending away a touring team.” By Mr Burge, seconded by Hr Gibbons: 'Tn tho event of the amalgamation being terminated any funds in tho hands of tho trustees shall be equally divided between the unions.”
