ANOTHER AREA-WANTED. NEAR OHIEO EOAD. A meeting of residents representing Brooklyn, tho upper portion of Willis street, and Wordsworth street, was held in tho Y.H.C.A. rooms lost night to consider the question cf approaching the City Connell with a view to securing a recreation ground by that portion of tho town belt which lies between tho Brooklyn tramline and Ohiro road. Mr P. M. B. Pifsher, M.P., presided. Mr E. A. Wright, M.P.. was present. Prom ‘information supplied to the meeting it appeared that the city had expended for recreation grounds over £IO.OOO on Duppa street, over £12,000 on Anderson Park, over £c0:0 on Kelburne Park, and a comparatively small amount at KUbirnie, whilst nothing had ever been done to provide for the recreation of those wlio lived in what was probably the most congested portion of the city. Nairn streetreserve, it was stated, was of no use. After some discussion it was decided to approach the various sports associations to try and enlist their sympathy, and It is hoped in the course of a few weeks that a strong and representative deputation will'be able to wait on the council to a£k that the work be earned cat.
