SPECIAL TO THE "TIMES." AUCKLAND, July 10. THAMES DEEP LEVELS. The contractors for the extension of the Deep Ix>vel crosscut have made good progress during the week, owing to a better class of country having been met with in the face, and a distance of 49 feet has been driven since the present contractor commenced work on Thursday of last week. A considerable quantity of water has’ been issuing from the face during the week, but this has now cased off somewhat. BRBMNER’S FREEHOLD. The manager of Breraner’s Freehold reports that they have got a splendid reef 20 inches wide, and in the low level it is looking good enough for go-id at any time, i MAY QUEEN. In the -drive on the Exchange reef in the! 1000 feet level of the May Queen mine the : work of stripping the lode is in hand, I Portions of the lode which have boon broken by the shots in stripping have shown good dabs of gold during the week, while a few pieces of good picked stone have been secured. It is, intended to break down again in the early part of the coming week. A short leading stope Ims also been carried along over the drive, and the quarts broken showed nice dabs of gold. Sloping operations on the various branches of No. 4 lode at No. 6 Level arc being continued, and are producing payable ore, from which a little picked stone is scoured from t-imo to time. Crushing commenced at the battery to-day. OLD HAUBAKI. ■ Since the first of this month 601 b of good stone has been .won from the 300 feet and 400 foot levels, and both these levels have been projected seaward with favourable prospects. At present there are 18 faces being operated upon. Crashing commenced at the battery to-day. TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED. The general manager’s report for the fortnight ending May 20th states that at No. 11 level the values from the slopes off No. 12 rise average £2 17s. At No. 12 Level the north drive on the reef (intersected by the east crosscut at 152 feet north) is along 28 feet, and the width of the reef is 36 inches, the values averaging 5s lod. The south drive on the same reef is 26 feet, and the width of the reef 72 inches, the values averaging 14a fid. In No. 13 winze, south of No. 4 crosscut, the width of the reef is 18 inches and the values average 143 4d. No. 14 winze has been discontinued on account of water. TTu> values from-No. 3 north stopo average £5 9s fid, No. 4 north stope !8a sd, oast vein etopes £1 l?s. In No. 13 level the south drive is in 1434 feet, and from 1380 feet to 1388 feet the w f dth of the reef is 12 inches,) the values averaging 4a 3d.
