The South Wales Miners’ Federation, in a manifesto to British minors, pleading for a national strike in favour of a minimum wage in all collieries, states that the South Wales miners are comjiclled to pay Is a month eacli to support tho Cambrian strikers, while the coal-owncrs, by simply paying Ifd per ton, are giving the Cambrian combine £26,000 a month. Tho employers, therefore, can hold out for years without feeling the pinch. THE MANCHESTER. STRIKES. (Received July 11, 0.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 10The Manchester dockers entliusiatically accepted tho terms which their loaders negotiated with, the Manchester Canal Company, but decided that it would bo cowardly to return while tho carters’ strike is unsettled, MR ASKWITH EFFECTS A SETTLEMENT. (Received July 11, 0.25 a.m.) LONDON, July 10. Mr Gr. R. Askwith, of the Board of Trade, negotiated with tho strikers all through the night, and it is understood that ho arrived at a settlement with all sections of the workers on strike at Manchester. BUILDERS’ STRIKE IN PARIS. (Received July 11, 0.25 a..m.) PARIS, July 10. The allied building unions have voted for a strike, involving eighty thousand men, owing to tho contractors’ refusal to grant a nine hours’ day, with the abolition of piecework. Baritand (secretary) and Vxau and Dumont (assistant secretaries of the Stonemasons’ Union) have been arrested for inciting soldiers to insubordination.
