START TO BE MADE SOON. A largo quantity of pipes for the ‘Waimii main duplication has come to band, and depots have been established at various points alone: the Hutt road and elsewhere, but a start cannot be made •with the work of putting down the main until the necessary valves aaid fittings arrive. Those are expected at the end of the present month, and as soon as they aro delivered men will ho put on. The work will he commenced on the Hutt "oad. near the Thomdon quay junction. Purvevs have been completed and the plans axo almost ready for tho large reservoir to hot-* two nrJbcu gallons. which is* to bo built on the Town Bolt between Naim street and Brooklyn, in connection with tho duplication echcmo and waterworks extension, for which tho sum of .£100,003 was recently harrowed. Tho carrying out r>f tho work will keen a largo bodv of labourers in cran’oymont for n oonsidcralilc length of time. The Rosen oath reservoir is still unable to lie used owing to the non-dolivory of certain fittings neededfor the ininii}?. The pumps for the Melrose tank have not yet corn© to hand, although some ra^ n t.hs overdue. while the jitimi’s fop the Wodcstown reservoir ax« due in about ten days.
