A STATEMENT DENIED
PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH. July 10. Ux W. F. Maasev. loader of the Opposition, returned t-a Christchurch to-day from ICaiapoi. In a telegraphed report of his Hastings speech Mr Massey was made to say the optional system should also apnly in the case of men taking up large blocks. Mr Massey stated to a reporter to-night that he never said anything of the sort at Hastings or anywhere else, and that the statement attributed to him was absurd and incorrect.
